Thank You For Making A Difference

Year after year, Bright Vision Hospital (BVH) has been honouring its volunteers with an annual Volunteer Appreciation Lunch. This year’s luncheon was at Swatow Seafood Restaurant on 11 February 2017. 65 volunteers gathered at the event to cheer on their fellow volunteers’ dedication and usher a brand Lunar New Year.

Mr Chua Puay Hian, BVH Chief Executive Officer (CEO) praised volunteers’ contributions during his welcoming speech. Many BVH volunteers sacrificed their time and effort to support our hospital’s cause and commitment to care for patients. They play an important role in bringing joy and hope for a better tomorrow to the patients. Looking back, their sincere commitment and dedications from BVH staff has helped the hospital to accomplish many goals to this very day. Engaging with patients can be enriching. Mdm Tang Wai San from Active Contributive Engaged Seniors (ACES) and Mr Kuik Wei Jian from National University of Singapore (NUS) shared the same sentiments while sharing their heartening experiences. Each story gave a fresh insight to the rest of the fellow volunteers and encouraged all to contribute more.20 volunteers received awards such as the 5 & 10 Years Long Service Awards from National Council of Social Service (NCSS), Active Volunteer Award and Partnership Award consisting Corporate and Institution Award from BVH.

Other than commemorating the volunteers’ effort, the event was also organised to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Volunteers partake in the traditional Prosperity Toss to usher good fortunes before having a sumptuous meal. Everyone had an afternoon of fun activities; from ice breaking games, mesmerising Acapella performance by The Usuals to winning hampers in a game of chance. Towards the end, volunteers took group photographs with Mr Chua Puay Hian and Mr Darren Thng, BVH Manager of CEO’s Office as a memento. Before parting, they exchanged well wishes of prosperity and good health in the year of the rooster. Thank you volunteers for always being there in our journey and making a difference to our patients’ lives.
